Where do the ancients fit in a world of Apple, McDonalds, Amazon and the S&P 500? The stories of Zeus and Hera, Hercules and Theseus seem not so much ridiculous as unconnected, meaningless in our Internet webbed world. But, as Carl Jung, Luc Ferry, and Marie-Claire Beaulieu have all pointed out, the old myths still contain wisdom that can enrich our lives. They have to be shown as still relevant for the 21st century. Reaffirming their connection to the solar system was a path of accomplishing this.

Art Deco style, which merges past and future into a unified whole, is the baseline style. Zeus is the sky god and the king of Olympus but he is also everything from Khrysaoreus (of the Golden Sword) and Labrandeus (Raging One) to Theus Agathus (the Good God) so it was essential to illustrate these different facets. The sun wheel recalls the sky and the source of material life while the shadows on the torso and face emphasize mystery. The god’s face looks towards the future, his body determined and ready to preserve order through thunderbolt and council.

The Gods Reformed: Zeus & Jupiter is a framed poster printed on thick matte paper. The matte black frame adds an extra touch of class.
